Composers and Authors for Freedom in America present…

2084

A new musical inspired by George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four
Directed by Sharon Fogarty

========= ONE NIGHT ONLY =========

MARCH 9TH, 7:00 P.M.
Running time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Tickets: $15 | Reservations: (212) 501-4751

2084 depicts a not-too-distant future where the words
"I love you" are illegal.

Welcome to the Islamic Emerit of America. The Al Queda has taken over all except three states which carry on the "decadent" institutions of the former U.S. These states are New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.

2084 is a non-traditional revue based on Americans' fears of losing country, belief and self where a narrator introduces songs from which dramatic characters and stories emerge. Lovers' romantic ballads are twinged with foreboding as their feelings defy the Establishment, caliphates sing of the Jihad's power in an anthem of triumph and Moslem women chant of longing to show their feminine charms.

Performers include Michael Campbell, Elaine Goodman, Lynette Kidman, Chanel Mobley, Dane Reese, Jim Reilly, Don Sheasley and Sarah Smith.

Director Sharon Fogarty's credits include Where Sleeping Gods Lie, Bride of Frankenstein ~ an experiment in intimacy, Putnam, Devil of Delancey Street, How to Be A Groom (Best Comedy, Edinburgh Festival), Sep-ul-kur (Winner Best Actress, Spotlight On Festival) and Tales of the Lost Formicans. Fogarty is a recent recipient of the "People of the Year" award from NYTheatre.com and has been entered into the Manhattan Theatre Source Hall of Fame for contributions in the production and performance of live theatre.
