Writer Montserrat “Mozz” Mendez’s screenplay TRIAL was one of the top thirty screenplays in the 2004 Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship Competition (out of 8,155 screenplays).

His completed screenplays include the drama BARREN WATERS, and the Fairy Tale Fantasy THE BITTER WOODS — A Vengeance Fantasia.

Montserrat’s comedy SERIOUSLY TRIVIAL PEOPLE (formerly THOROUGHLY STUPID THINGS) was called “a comic masterwork.” by Backstage, and won the Excellence in Playwrighting Award at the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival. His play, The Dashwood Girls, has been nominated for a National Endowment for the Arts foundation through Manhattan Theatre Source.

Other Favorite Productions include: Hush Little Baby at the Madlab Theatre Company of Columbus, Ohio/ Manhattan Theatre Source and the Vagabond Theatre Company, NYC. Donde Esta Pedro Mano? At the City Theatre’s Summer Shorts Festival 2007 in Miami and the InGenius Theatre Festival in NYC. And his one act — A Jar in the Forest at the Samuel French One-Act Theatre Festival 2007 in New York City.

For Television, Montserrat has developed the TV pilots HEARTSTRINGS for Bold Rhythm Productions. He has recently shot the Sitcom, POLLTAKERS with AMZ CREATIVE LLC and DREAM OUT LOUD MEDIA LLC.
